Katlego’s rodeo dream

Katlego Selolo (20), a young man who spends most of his time, at his father’s NPO,(The Invincible U-Turn Ranch),  which is a family business that focuses on helping the disadvantaged and introducing horse riding into the black community, was introduced to the ‘Western’ Lifestyle from a young age.

Katlego grew in Mamelodi, near to Pretoria, on the grounds of Baviansport Prison. His father Peter, a Prison Warden in the Horse Unit, introduced him into the western lifestyle, which he fell in love with. He continued the journey when he took the decision to take up Rodeo, which he is getting into as a way of expression. He says that the feeling of riding makes him feel like he’s in space due to the adrenaline rush and freedom. He has dreams to travel abroad.

The Rodeo and cowboy lifestyle is fostered at Que Sera, where events are held throughout the year.
